LEVEL: EASY

Like the other Hunmanby route, this is designed to avoid busy roads but is slightly further and takes you through the beautiful village of Muston.

On arrival at the A165, which is extremely busy and fast all year round, we advise children/less confident cyclists to ride on the shared cycle path.

On leaving the A165, the route takes you along the much quieter Sands Lane with its pleasant rural views and glimpses of the sea if you look right occasionally.

On turning off Sands Lane onto Pinfold Lane, you will come to the village’s historic “lock-up”.

After turning left, there is a gradual climb to the junction.

Turn left here if you wish to take the short detour into Hunmanby Village itself, which is well worth a stop with its historic buildings, local shops and refreshment stops. Otherwise continue on the route up to the mini-roundabout, where you take your second exit, signed to Muston.

On passing the last of the houses, there are some stunning distant sea views to your right and then an enjoyable downhill into Muston, where the ducks welcome you into the village from their pond on the left.

At the next junction, you turn right. Be aware that this road can get especially busy in holiday periods.

Take care at the sharp left-hand bend a short distance after the church, where large vehicles may approach on your side of the road.

After the bends, there is a short and deceptively steep climb to the junction with the A165.

At the junction, you can choose to follow the road or make use of the short, signed cycle path. On turning left off the busy, main road, the route brings you back into Filey town centre, along quiet roads and a bridleway.
